The Schweizerhof is located in Mels, a small town in the Sarganserland, eastern Switzerland, at the crossroads of the valleys leading to the Pizol and Flumserberge, two well-known skiing and hiking areas. The region is crossed by the Rhine and lies about 30 km from Liechtenstein. The nearest airport is Sankt Gallen-Altenrhein, about 50 km away. Gutenberg Castle, in Liechtenstein, can be seen a few kilometres to the east, and the Rhine valley railway stations make it easy to reach Sargans and Bad Ragaz.
