For more than 60 years, the Taucher establishment was part of the fabric of Buchs — first as a bakery, then from 1969 onward as a hotel-restaurant well loved by locals. On 22 December 2023 the restaurant closed its doors and traditional hotel operations came to an end. The building has since been reinvented as "Apartmenthaus Taucher": furnished, non-smoking studios and apartments, each equipped with a kitchenette, shower, toilet, TV and internet connection. This new format caters to people seeking temporary housing for a minimum stay of one month, rather than passing travellers.
