Hotel Restaurant Alpstein was a family-run mountain inn located in Wildhaus, at the foot of the Alpstein massif. The property offered 8 simple rooms, including two singles, all with running water and shared shower/WC facilities on the floor. Its restaurant was known for regional cuisine with Italian specialities, served in a warm, family atmosphere with views of the surrounding mountains. Important note: this establishment closed permanently on 1 March 2026. Its owners, Natalie and Jean Pierre Schaller, have since opened a new restaurant, "Frieda", at Gasthaus Friedegg, from 1 July 2026 onward. The property was located in Wildhaus, a village in the Toggenburg region (canton of St. Gallen) at the foot of the Alpstein massif, known for its mountain scenery and hiking opportunities. The area is also known for its ski resorts and unspoilt alpine setting. The nearest railway station on the Liechtenstein side, Schaan-Vaduz, is about 12 km away, and St. Gallen-Altenrhein Airport is about 35 km away.
