Berggasthaus Plattenbödeli is an idyllic mountain inn nestled on the shores of Lake Sämtisersee, surrounded by pine forest, in the heart of the Alpstein massif. Run by Manuela Sager and Alois Inauen, the house welcomes families, hikers, anglers and group outings in an atmosphere that is both comfortable and nostalgic. The inn offers 33 beds in rooms plus 50 further places in a dormitory (Lager), catering to every budget and taste. In winter, the inn takes on a special charm with its romantic "Häxewäldli" package and torch-lit hikes through the snow. Year-round, guests enjoy the calm of the lake, birdsong and the clean Appenzell air, between a stroll around the Sämtisersee and a walk on to the neighbouring Berggasthaus Bollenwees.

Berggasthaus Plattenbödeli sits right on the shore of Lake Sämtisersee, in the Alpstein massif, in the municipality of Gonten/Brülisau (Appenzell Innerrhoden). It is reached on foot, about an hour's walk from Brülisau, or via the Alp Sigel or Hoher Kasten cable cars followed by a hike. The trail around the lake passes the small Mariä Heimsuchung chapel and continues on to the neighbouring Berggasthaus Bollenwees. The spot is popular with families, anglers and hikers for its unspoilt setting between lake and pine forest.
